A native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Larry
attended University of Saskatchewan where he quarterbacked the Huskies (1966-70) enroute
to earning a Masters of Science degree. Larry started his coaching career at his alma mater, where his responsibilities escalated from RB coach to offensive coordinator during his 3 year tenure. |
In 1974, Larry accepted a faculty position at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, teaching undergraduate Physical Growth and Development. He was also appointed Offensive coordinator of the football Tigers. After one season, he was named Head Football Coach of Dalhousie in February, but left the university in May to accept the offensive coordinator position with the University of Western Ontario Mustangs. Larry was the offensive coordinator for 9 years (1975-83) and was appointed Head Coach in 1984. In his tenure at the helm of the Mustang football program his record has been impressive. Larry has guided Western to 12 Ontario Championship appearances (winning 8 times), 4 Atlantic Bowl victories, 1 Churchill Bowl victory and has vaulted Western into the national championship game - The Vanier Cup - on 5 occasions winning National titles in 1989 and 1994. Larry's 14 year record (in 1992 he took an education leave) is 126-22-4, a winning percentage of 83%. Heading into the 1999 season he is the winningest coach in Mustang history, surpassing the legendary John Metras (119-80-11) during the 1998 season. During his 23 years with the Mustangs, he has coached 48 All Canadians, 4 Hec Crighton winners (Most Outstanding Player in the Nation); 2 President's Trophy winners (Best Defensive Player in the Nation); 1 J.P. Metras Trophy (Best Lineman in the Nation) winner and 1 Peter Gorman Trophy winner (Rookie of the Year). Coupled with his responsibilities as Head Football Coach, Larry is an assistant professor in Western's faculty of Kinesiology and teaches Human Growth and Motor Development. He is also a member of numerous professional organizations and has extensive involvement in the the development of amateur football with the National Coaches Certification Program in Ontario and Canada. |

Bob joined the Mustang staff as defensive coordinator and linebacker coach in 1984. In 1992 he became the interim Head Coach, posting a 7-3 record, while Larry Haylor was on an educational sabbatical. Prior to his position with the Mustangs, Bob was the Executive Director of Football Canada. | |
In addition to his football duties, Bob , who holds a Doctorate in Educational Psychology, teaches in Western's faculty of Kinesiology. A native of Toronto, Bob graduated from Western with an honours degree (1970) and masters (1980) in physical education. He also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba. A former male athlete of the year, Bob played 8 seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1970-77) as a wide receiver and earned CFL All-Star status in 1972. Bob was also Blue Bomber Player of the Year in 1974, and Bomber team captain from 1975-77. Bob's coaching experience began in 1977 at the University of Manitoba, where he held the position of defensive coordinator. In 1979, while pursuing his post graduate degree at Western, Bob was the Mustangs wide receiver coach. After leaving Western, Bob became an assistant coach with the University of Ottawa Gee Gees in 1981 and 1983 while employed with Football Canada. Since his permanent arrival at Western in the fall of 1984, Bob's defenses have consistently been one of the best in the CIAU. |

A former All-Star wide receiver with the Mustangs
from 1974-78, Nigel is responsible for the coordination of the Mustang receivers. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Nigel graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (History) in 1977, a Bachelor of Education in 1978 and a Master of Education in 1996. |

A former draft pick of the B.C. Lions, Nigel has developed a number of great receivers over his 18 years with the 'Stangs, including Tyrone Williams (former Dallas Cowboy and Toronto Argonaut) and Dave Sapunjis (former Calgary Stampeder). Nigel teaches at Glencoe High School where he is also involved in coaching track. In the summer he coaches at numerous camps including the Olympia QB & REC Passing Camp. |

A former Mustang in the early 60's, Clarke has been
the defensive secondary coach since 1976. Clarke received the Gino Fracas Award in 1992 as the most outstanding assistant coach in the CIAU. Since his arrival at Western, no fewer than 40 defensive backs have been chosen OUA All Stars. |

Clarke's son, Steve is the quarterback coach of the Mustangs and was the All Canadian quarterback in 1985. Clarke became an inspiration to the 1994 National Championship team during his courageous battle and ultimate victory over cancer. |

A former Mustang quarterback from
1982-86, Steve joined the Mustang Staff in 1989. Steve was the All Canadian quarterback and Hec Crighton nominee in 1985. After his brilliant collegiate career, where he led the Mustangs to 2 Vanier Cup appearances, Steve was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL. |

In addition to coaching duties with the Mustangs, Steve is a high school teacher at Lucas Secondary (his alma mater) and is also the schools head football coach. Steve's father, Clarke, is the defensive secondary coach. |

Kevin's a graduate of McMaster where he played four
years with the Marauders as a defensive back. A medical grad Kevin's doing his fellowship in Orthopedics at Western and has proven a welcome and valued addition to the coaching staff. |
